Monthly & Weekly Market Wrap-up

May was a very successful month for the main stock index S&P500, which ends the month with a result of +4.80%, yet the last week is negative (-0.51%).

Nevertheless, the S&P500 is below the recent peak (all-time-high from May 21 this year) by only 0.82%. See Figure 1 and Table 1.

But it is Mag7 who is the best performer with a monthly result of +10.58%. See Figure 2.

The company with the top score in May is, of course, Nvidia (+26.9%), but interestingly in second place with a result of +12.9% is Apple. Apple is not dead yet, even though it has been underperforming the S&P500 since early 2024 - see Figure 3. Of the all Mag7 companies, only Tesla shares fell in May (-2.84%). Excluding Tesla, Meta's shares have fallen the most since the last all-time high (-11.5%).
